This past week I found myself in conflict.
But what was different about it this time around,
Is that I slept every night on a pillow of integrity.
My conscience was clear.
I didn't toy back and forth with the coulda, shoulda, wouldas,
I didn't re-play the scenario in my head, trying to come up with a catchy comeback.
For the first time in my life, I didn't feel the need to have the last word.
In fact, walking away with the wind of change behind me, was empowering.
To look at what's ahead and not behind was freeing.
Some where along the way in my life,
Probably because I was so accustomed to wanting to be liked and make everyone happy,
I stopped asking myself what made ME happy.
I started questioning my choices, and I found myself always in situations that I didn't want to be in.
When you're misaligned with your goals,
And you're feeling stuck in your current situation,
Eventually the cannon is going to blow.
But this time was different.
This time I walked away from a person, a situation, and a scenario that was no longer serving me with respect and dignity.
And it's never felt better.
I could have taken the easy road.
But I didn't.
I thought about what I wanted, what I needed, and how I wanted to exit the situation.
And I accepted that my role in that particular story was ENOUGH.
Perseverance is beautiful, even honorable.
But when you're sacrificing your own health, happiness, freedom, and potential, just to not upset someone,
You gotta check your ego at the door.
People pleasers, you will disappoint people.
You won't be ENOUGH to some.
But those aren't the people you should be vibing with.
When you're constantly trying to be noticed, appreciated, honored, supported, it's time to leave.
People pleasers, you have nothing to PROVE.
So stop wasting your precious energy trying to make others happy.
You are ENOUGH.
I look up at the art I have hanging above my desk and I read it every morning.
" You are the real thing. A genuine original. Perfect in all your flaws. So find your voice and change the world.
Make a REAL difference. Be a hero, an inspiration, a mentor. Believe in your gifts and USE THEM WISELY.
Never stop learning. Make mistakes and ask questions. EMBRACE THE JOURNEY.
Be passionate about the things that matter most to you.YOU ARE THE AUTHOR of your LIFE STORY.
Make it a GOOD ONE."
