Why Meal Plans Don't Work

Today it all came together.

The sweat, the hard work, the meal prep,

Months of making the best choices I could make,

5am workouts, and the grind.

The last few months for this moment.

I decided to step into a high end designer store in town,

As I need a killer outfit for an event in London, England next month that I'm speaking at.

I thought, WHY NOT NOW? 


As soon as I stepped in the door and started eyeing up the racks, the amazing sales lady said to me, 

"You know there's a killer sale going on upstairs, like 75% off."

Killer outfit, Killer sale.

I liked the sound of that.

I grabbed a few safe things off the rack, and was escorted into a dressing room that was larger than my living room.

An older lady was helping me, but I was caught by surprise when a woman around my age, knocked on the door and peeked her head in,

Holding an amazing jumpsuit.

Think, like, JLO. wearing, curvaceous, vivacious jump suit.

My first thought, UMMM NO. I can't pull that off. 

But then I thought, what the hell, let's give it a try.

It was a tad bit too big, but the CUT, THE STYLE, THE FABRIC, It hugged all the right places and was loose in all the right places.

It's like it was meant for me.

Buy it, have it altered, DONE AND DONE.

Staring back at my body in that jumpsuit, I almost didn't think it was mine.

Why do we do that to ourselves?

Why do we dare stand in disbelief at our power?

But it was in that moment, it all came together.

The last few months of understanding how to eat for my body type, when to eat, how much to eat, and what foods agreed with me.

The jumpsuit and my body in that mirror validated that my body is happy.

In the past I tried eating from meal plans that fitness coaches gave me, but it left me feeling restricted, and led to binge eating.

I always felt that there were good foods, and forbidden foods.

Good choices and bad choices.

AND THE GUILT, when I strayed off the plan!

That's what led me down the path of understanding macros and eating for my body type.

 I knew I could be successful long term and not have to stress out with travel, eating out, or enjoying a glass of wine or two.

As a trainer, I give people meal plans and alternate food ideas to follow but that's just the BASE so you know HOW to eat.

It teaches you about body types.

And it teaches you how to eat for YOUR body type, so you can make it a lifestyle,

Not "following a diet from a meal plan."

I don't know about you, but I crave variety.

And one too many chicken breasts and I'm reaching for pizza.

I want to eat good food, that's good for me, and fit in designer jumpsuits!
