I recently caught a glimpse of myself in new camera light as I was filming online videos with a professional. And what I saw shocked me. Lines around my eyes, forehead creases, frown lines. Roads of expressions mapped out on my face. Where I've been, emotions I've experienced. Love. Loss. Anger. Freedom.

I royally messed up my body. I royally tanked my metabolism. Yes, I lost about 60lbs, but became scale obsessed, and if I strayed from my restrictive meal plan, I gained weight. A SHIT TON of weight. This, my friends, is what led me down the path of creating my OWN macro plan. One with balance, AND CARBS, and ALCOHOL, and enjoyment, and living life. One that healed my body, not hurt my body.
This past week has been a little different for me. My clients, friends, and family know that I don't recommend anything to them to improve their health and wellness, unless I try it myself. So this week I stepped out of my comfort zone, set aside my biases and tried something new. Not only did I have more energy, and the best sleep of my life, I simply felt happier. I was grounded. And that's exactly the term for this one free HACK that changed my life!
I lied. I told a little white one, while sitting on a big blue couch in front of a Television Camera on a Tuesday morning. It was my monthly segment as an Expert Health and Fitness Host on our local TV network, and we were discussing my Break the Mould: Become Fit, Fierce, and Fearless in the Life You Deserve Book. "I'm being picked up by Chapters now!" Excitedly spat out of my mouth. Part of that was true, part of that maybe not so much.
My body is balanced. My body is happy. I'm not on some fad diet or plan for the short term. I know how to EAT whole, real foods, all damn day long and I've never felt better. I know you want me to tell you it's OK to do the quick fixes. But I've seen the long term pain that it causes. Don't you want to celebrate at the end the year because you've gotten in the best shape of your life, mastered your nutrition, and stayed consistent?
As a mom, a wife and a coach, a trainer, and a nurse, it is in my DNA to give to everybody else first. Once I mastered my time, I mastered my mindset, I mastered my health. I had less anxiety. I had less worry. I had less negative thoughts. I had less desire to control every single situation.
I love creating nutritional plans for my clients. For everyone who has ever said, Just tell me what to eat and I'll eat it, I've got you covered, But what happens when you have to eat off the meal plan. What happens when you are traveling? What happens when it's a holiday? What happens if you really just WANT that dessert, wine, or burger? If I've created this dependency on me for advice, you won't be successful.
I used to blame myself, blame my body, shame myself, and lash out on others because of my own insecurities. But now I'm driven by science. And in my research this past month, I've read about 5 Hormones that when out of whack, wreak havoc on our health. Take this assessment of questions and follow the guidelines for a quick fix!
We are conditioned to focus on the negative. "She's so annoying. Who does she think she is?" You see that's the thing- she KNOWS who she is- and she isn't afraid to share it. Many people never delve into finding out who they really are, what they really want, and what they want their life to look like. Many people don't even know what makes them happy, and they live their life disconnected from themselves and others.
